Laminate Flooring Producer, Laurentian

Laurentian, a division of Spanolux N.V., is an important laminate flooring producer. The state of the art, fully vertically integrated production unit in Vielsalm - the heart of the Belgian Ardennes - ensures an excellent price/quality ratio. The extensive automation in production and warehousing guarantees a more than flexible service. Laurentian laminate floors are sold in more than 55 countries; exports are about 97,5% of total volume.

Laurentian was founded in 2001 and is a 50/50 joint venture between Baltagroup (www.baltagroup.com) and Spanogroup (www.spanogroup.be). Baltagroup is the 2nd largest European floorcovering producer (rugs and wall-to-wall carpets) and ranks worldwide 6th. Spanogroup is a world leader in wood based panel solutions: MDF, HDF, Fibreboard, OSB ...

2010:

Laurentian invest for a total amount of € 12.000.000 in:

  • implementation of a state of the art quality control system
  • adjustments to the production lines for more flexibility towards our customers for an even better and faster delivery
  • increases in productivity
  • research & development within the framework of product innovations
  • a broader and deeper market penetration of the brand through a highly flexible Laurentian Point of Sales presentation system in the distribution points.

The investment in the production unit will increase the actual annual production capacity from 20.000.000 m² to nearly 30.000.000 m².

  • Laurentian introduces the exclusive Grandeur collection in January: The ChromeZone® technology introduced in 2008 is now available on an extra long and extra wide plank.
  • “Embrace the future”, Laurentian’s programme for sustainable entrepreneurship has officially begun. All Laurentian's current and future efforts with respect to sustainable entrepreneurship will be communicated on a new website: www.Laurentiansustainability.com
  • The production of Laurentian laminate floors gained ISO 9001 certification in April 2009. This confirms the company's strategy of producing and delivering high quality laminate products.
  • Readers of the UK trade journal Interiors Monthly choose Laurentian as 'Best Laminate floor' and in the Czech Republic Laurentian Grandeur is voted best product by 'Domo Profi Magazine’.

2008:

  • Laurentian unveils 2 novelties at the Domotex fair in Hannover, Germany: Magnitude with ChromeZone ® and Tradition Sapphire with random V-groove.
  • Laurentian receives the award for "Best Stand Design" on the Mosbuild exhibition in Moscow.
  • Spanolux wins the 2008 Trends Gazellen trophy for the fastest growing company in the category large companies in the provinces of Namur-Luxembourg, Belgium.
  • Best overseas supplier in UK by Retail Floors.
  • Best website in U.K.

2007:

  • A second V-groove finishing line is installed in the Vielsalm plant.
  • The company appears on the Trends Gazellen 2007 list as one of the fastest growing big companies in the province of Namur-Luxemburg, Belgium.

2006:

  • A third finishing line is installed in the Vielsalm plant.
  • For the third time, the company appears on the Trends Gazellen 2006 list as one of the fastest growing big companies in the province of West-Vlaanderen, Belgium.
  • Laurentian wins the award for Best Overseas Supplier at the National Floor Show in Harrogate, United Kingdom

2005:

  • Laurentian invests another 8.500.000,-€ in a (third) fully automated warehouse for end products. From now on the total supply chain is fully automated.
  • For the second time, the company appears on the Trends Gazellen 2005 list as one of the fastest growing big companies in the province of West-Vlaanderen, Belgium.
  • Laurentian wins the award for Best Trade Marketing Campaign at the National Floor Show in Harrogate, United Kingdom.

2004:

  • Laurentian moves to new offices in St. Baafs Vijve, Belgium with state of the art showroom.
  • In the Vielsalm plant, an own impregnation line is installed, an investment of approx. 5.000.000,-€.
  • In addition, the company appears on the Trends Gazellen 2004 list as one of the fastest growing big companies in the province of West-Vlaanderen, Belgium.

2003:

  • Laurentian starts laminate flooring production in the newly built Vielsalm plant in Belgium, an investment of approx. 40.000.000,-€, incl. 2 fully automated warehouses for decorpaper and pressed boards/planks.

2001:

  • Spanolux, div. Laurentian laminate flooring is founded and starts production in Aalst, Belgium (former Trinterio).

Spanolux, div. Laurentian N.V., is a member of EPLF (www.eplf.com), the organisation of European Producers of Laminate Flooring.
